“Keri Smith may well be the self-help guru this DIY generation deserves.” —The Believer

A lot of fun! I seriously love this journal! It is the most fun I’ve had with any journal or sketchbook and has really stretched my creativity. I bought two so my friend could do one too and she brings it over for our weekly get-togethers. We drink wine and do a page or two and have a blast.Great for All Ages I can never write in a journal even if I force my self to. This is a very fun journal to do with your children or for adults to do on their own. It doesn't require you to write any thing. Just be creative and make a mess. This is my motto I live by when creating something. Great for children because they don't have to write. They can have fun and make a mess. Just what children like to do. This also helps them bring out their creative side they didn't know they have. It brought mine out and I am an adult. Great for adults who don't like to write but like to be creative. This is also great for any college student. College can be stressful and boring. Sometimes college students don't have time to write in a journal because they are so busy with homework and assignments. This a great stress reliever for College students who hate writing or just don't have time to write.Don't wait! Better for Younger Kids I bought this for my 6yo granddaughter for Christmas. She was less than thrilled to get a book. But, her mom started paging through it and was excited! She saw immediately what I saw when I received the books: Really interesting art challenges like "put sticky things on this page."When I saw this book, I wanted to start copying some of the ideas for my toddler. Instead, I think I'll get a copy for the toddler! Sure, I'll have to help her read the instructions, but they're usually one line and easy to follow.I also plan on getting one for my other granddaughter's 7th birthday this year. Great rainy day and alone time activities. It's a book that will change with every use. I wouldn't be afraid to get one every year for the toddler to do--it will be interesting how her creative thought progresses in the next 4 years. Also, it's not limited to girls. The activities in it are art. It's not biased to gender. I may also purchase for my grandson's 5th birthday.4 stars only because it doesn't sit well with young children as a gift. "You got me a book??" Probably better just to buy and add to your rainy day stash.

Today, she is the co-founder and co-administrator of the Filipino Instant Pot Community, the largest and most active Filipino IP congregation on the web. Through her first published work, The Filipino Instant Pot Cookbook, Tisha offers personal stories and family recipes that bring her love for food, community, and Filipino culture together. Outside of her work as an author and home cook, Tisha works in publicity for a major television studio. She currently lives in Orange County, California, with her husband, Jorell, and two children.Jeannie E. Celestial was born on Guam and raised by Filipino parents and grandparents who were skilled farmers. It was they who helped develop her cooking instincts early on, instilling in her a deep understanding of and respect for traditional Filipino ingredients. In addition to her work with food, Jeannie is a practicing psychologist who is committed to holistic wellness and fostering healthy Filipinx (Filipino/a/x) communities. The Filipino Instant Pot Cookbook brings her passions together, allowing her to promote mental health through food-helping to break down colonial mentality by proudly sharing the recipes, stories, and cultural practices of her motherland, the Philippines. Jeannie earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology at the University of California at Berkeley, a Master of Social Work Degree at San Francisco State University, and a Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Clinical Psychology at Palo Alto University. She currently works in Vallejo, California.Born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, Romeo Roque-Nido's cooking was influenced early on by a diversity of cultures before being broadened further during his time as a world-traveling student in the California Maritime Academy. While his culinary influences are varied (he loves Italian food!), his truest passion is the cuisine of his motherland, the Philippines. Through The Filipino Instant Pot Cookbook, Romeo hopes to preserve the rich culinary heritage of the Philippines, by using modern appliances to make it more accessible to even the busiest of families. Romeo earned his engineering degree from California Maritime Academy and MBA from St. Mary's College of California. Today he lives in Vallejo, California with his wife and two children.

"To truly appreciate and understand Filipino dishes, you have to understand the evolution of the spices, the nuances of the flavor profiles, the land from which these dishes were birthed. That's what this book provides. This is not just a book of recipes; this is a book about our story." --Pati Navalta Poblete, Editor-in-Chief, San Francisco Magazine

No cuisine and appliance are better suited for one another than Filipino food and the Instant Pot.

From classic dinner staples like the traditionally sour Sinigang na Baboy (pork tamarind soup) to sweet treats like Putong Puti (steamed rice cake), the rich flavors of Filipino food are typically unlocked through a long braise or boil, a delicate steam, or some other treatment by moist heat. Fortunately, this is exactly what the Instant Pot does best.

The Filipino Instant Pot Cookbook is written by six home cooks who set out to explore their Filipino heritage and intimate family histories, one dish at a time. The result is a collection of over 75 heartfelt Filipino recipes, all carefully translated for preparation in today's most essential piece of kitchenware, the Instant Pot. Just as Filipino food is now a mainstay in the consciousness of foodies from around the world, The Filipino Instant Pot Cookbook is an absolute must-have for every modern home cook. It is written with humor and heart, and lined with beautifully styled photography that will trigger a warm sense of nostalgia.

Praised by the Culinary Director of the Filipino Food Movement, the President Emeritus of the Filipino American National Historical Society, and chefs from around the world, The Filipino Instant Pot Cookbook will help any home cook step into a kitchen and create great Filipino food for any setting, without breaking the bank... or the clock. Whether you're cooking for a raucous affair featuring the tableside chatter of an entire extended family or a simple, quiet comfort-meal under your favorite blanket on the couch, The Filipino Instant Pot Cookbook will have you covered.

Junior Encyclopedia of Animated Characters Pdf

ISBN: 1423189140
Title: Junior Encyclopedia of Animated Characters Pdf
Author: Disney Book Group
Published Date: 2014-06-03
Page: 144
From Ariel to Zurg, this jacketed hardcover guide features fun facts, tricky trivia, and cool quotes about over 150 Disney heroes (and villains!). Readers will also learn about the stars of the latest Disney and Disney*Pixar films, like Wreck-It Ralph, Frozen, The Good Dinosaur, and more! Plus the book jacket reverses to reveal a poster!

Must buy for Disney trip Based on the recommendation of others we used this as a character book at Disney. It was so much better than a silly blank page signature book that kids never care about after your trip. This one allows your kid to look through and read about the characters for years to come. The characters at Disney did a lot of fun stuff with the book. The bad characters crossed out some negative information and edited some stuff. They all wrote little add ins to their character story and it just seemed so much more interactive with this book. It now sits on our daughters shelf for her to look at for years to come rather than a blank page signature book.I only wish they’d update this with some of the newer characters and maybe Marvel and Star Wars characters. Several had to sign on the blank pages of the cover but they still made it fun. Sadness from inside out seemed the most bummed about not being in the book.If you go to Disney with children and don’t buy this, you’re out of your mind.A decent update to a great book I'm torn over how much I like this version of the Disney Character Encyclopedia. I bought my daughter the 2009 edition, but decided to get the updated one to use as an autograph book for our upcoming WDW trip.Pros:It includes a lot of the new characters, from Frozen, Planes, Up, and even The Pirate Fairy.I personally like the clean new style of the pages, particularly the solid band of color on the side with the character's names - it makes it very easy to flip through to the right page. They removed some of the more obscure characters that I just don't care about (does anyone even remember the names of the "Dinosaurs" characters?)The hardbound edition is nice, & the book jacket can help keep your book from getting dinged. The pages also seem a little thicker and nicer quality, but that may just be an age issue.Cons:My 12yo daughter much prefers the old style, with each character having a font that fits them or their movie style. The old edition had more fun facts about the characters, including things like their favorite colors, etc. The new version seems like a little bit drier read.I miss the 2-page spreads for main characters. Especially using this as an autograph book, that extra space was nice. Some people may be upset about the characters that were removed. There's no page for the Prince from Snow White or most of the Neverland Fairies, both of which are still available for autographs occasionally.I haven't actually weighed the books, but the new version seems a little heavier. This may not be a problem if you're just using it as a normal book at home, but lugging it around the parks may get cumbersome. (I plan to carry ours in a stroller.)Overall I like the book and if you don't have access to the older edition I'd definitely say it's worth getting. But honestly I wish they'd found a better compromise between the 2 editions. Ideally I'd combine them and make one that would work better for my purposes. Or better yet, if Disney had made this book with the intention of it being used for autographs and kept all of the older characters from the parks along with the new additions, I would love it.Perfect autograph book After seeing this recommended on Disney Tourist Blog, we used this as our autograph book for our recent Disney World trip and it was perfect. The characters are all familiar with it and most know right where their pages are. Anastasia even knew how to do a quick edit to her and Drizella's page to make it more flattering ;)It is bigger than a traditional autograph book, but not very thick or heavy. We just carried it in our backpack so it didn't bother us at all. There are no Disney Jr. characters, but I printed out pictures of Doc McStuffins, Sofia, Elena, etc and taped them in the back cover of the book so they each had their own spot.I know we will read and treasure this for years to come, versus a traditional autograph book that probably would have just ended up buried in a drawer somewhere.

Airline Maps Free Pdf

ISBN: 0143134078
Title: Airline Maps Pdf A Century of Art and Design
Author: Mark Ovenden
Published Date: 2019
Page: 144

Praise for Transit Maps of the World:"Ovenden does what no other design history book has ever done. Transit Maps of the World is a must-have."--The New York Times Book Review "Fantastic."--LA Times"The perfect book."--USA Today Mark Ovenden is a design historian, bestselling author, presenter, broadcaster, and lecturer. Maxwell Roberts is a lecturer in the Department of Psychology at the University of Essex.

A nostalgic and celebratory look back at one hundred years of passenger flight, featuring full-color reproductions of route maps and posters from the world's most iconic airlines, from the author of bestselling cult classic Transit Maps of the World.

In this gorgeously illustrated collection of airline route maps, Mark Ovenden and Maxwell Roberts look to the skies and transport readers to another time. Hundreds of images span a century of passenger flight, from the rudimentary trajectory of routes to the most intricately detailed birds-eye views of the land to be flown over. Advertisements for the first scheduled commercial passenger flights featured only a few destinations, with stunning views of the countryside and graphics of biplanes. As aviation took off, speed and mileage were trumpeted on bold posters featuring busy routes. Major airlines produced highly stylized illustrations of their global presence, establishing now-classic brands. With trendy and forward-looking designs, cartographers celebrated the coming together of different cultures and made the earth look ever smaller.

Eventually, fleets got bigger and routes multiplied, and graphic designers have found creative new ways to display huge amounts of information. Airline hubs bring their own cultural mark and advertise their plentiful destination options. Innovative maps depict our busy world with webs of overlapping routes and networks of low-cost city-to-city hopping. But though flying has become more commonplace, Ovenden and Roberts remind us that early air travel was a glamorous affair for good reason. Airline Maps is a celebration of graphic design, cartographic skills and clever marketing, and a visual feast that reminds us to enjoy the journey as much as the destination.

Codependent No More Download

ISBN: B000E1Z6VS
Title: Codependent No More Pdf How to Stop Controlling Others and Start Caring for Yourself
A source of healing and inspiration for millions, this modern classic spent over three years on the New York Times best seller list and made codependency a household word. Codependent No More contains dozens of real-life examples, personal reflections, exercises, and self-tests to help you along the road to recovering your own life. For anyone struggling with a relationship involving alchoholism or other compulsive behaviors, this program points the way to healing and the renewal of hope. Melody Beattie's insights into the nature of the phenomenon of codependency will guide you step by step to the understanding that letting go will set you free.

Codependent No More I am not normally a fan of "self help" titles. I tend to cringe at the very thought, and to be honest I was doing just that when this was recommended to me. However, I like to keep an open mind so I dove in.Codependent No More did not feel like a guide book or advice being thrown around. It read with an eerie sense of familiarity. As I poured through the case studies, I found myself thinking "that is me!" or "I know this person!". It was soon very obvious that I did not understand what being codependent meant. I had always viewed this as a negative label stuck on those whose loved one where addicts. But it is so much more. In fact this is a problem that effects many.I cannot recommend this title enough. If you are struggling, read it. If you know someone who struggles, read it. If you do not understand codependency, read it.There is something to be taken from Codependent No More for everyone. It is a refreshing perspective and read.Very educational self help book I absolutely loved this book. I already knew I was codependent when I started reading this book but I have learned so much more about codependency and it explained how I felt and i was able to recognize some of my habitual behaviors. Some chapters are hard to read because you are recognizing some of this behavior in yourself and others and it’s very hard to look in the mirror but I kept reading the book. I have no regrets. I came out knowing so much more about human behavior and I feel prepared now to start making the changes necessary to be able to have healthy relationships with those around me and live a happier life. Of course, this is a life long journey but this book a good start.I also recommend, “The Human Magnet Syndrome” by Ross Rosenberg”. This is where I came across the title for “Codependent No More”Helping me to change my life! Yes, this book is absolutely helping me change my life. All these years of pain, trying to fix everything for everyone, whether they asked for it or not, anxiety, depression, craziness and then ultimately losing who I was completely and ignoring desperately needed self care. I now understand why I did the things I did. I saw myself in every page and every paragraph. This book is a huge step forward in self care! I feel understood, supported and encouraged. I'm learning and changing. It feels amazing. I give this book and "The Language of Letting Go" as gifts to my fellow codependent friends. I hope when they are ready that they read this. Because I KNOW it will help anyone who is codependent. I promise you that if you're codependent and ready to live better that this book will help you!

I run a Youtube channel offering free ACT / SAT prep and college advice (SupertutorTV), have created an online prep course for the ACT, and have written two books on the math section of the ACT. In short, I know the ACT.When it comes to ACT prep, the number one advice I have for my students is to USE AUTHENTIC MATERIALS from the test maker. That means if you’re taking the ACT, and can afford nothing but one book, this is the number one resource I would recommend. The ACT test got a minor reboot in 2014 when ACT added probability items to the math section, reduced the number of science passages from 7 to 6, and added a dual reading passage section. The ACT has also revamped the essay a couple of times since 2014. This book reflects all those changes. Huzzah! Most notably, this version of the book includes a new, 5th test included in the book (awesome!). This is a recent test (form code A10 or 19MC5) originally administered in December 2017.Like the 2018 edition, but unlike 2017 and earlier editions, this book also includes a couple of other features touted on the cover:1) Access to an online question “bank” instead of printable pdf versions of the “bonus” questions that came with older versions of this guide (2015-2016 and 2016-2017 which has no date on the cover). Each book includes a scratch off code, so best to purchase new, not used, if you want to take advantage of these online questions. As before, these include around 100 of each subject matter pulled from the Real ACT Prep guide 3rd Edition that has since been taken out of print.2) Essays that reflect the latest version of the essay prompt (previously, the question required students to integrate “multiple perspectives” or all three perspectives. The newer version of the prompt is reworded and broader, asking students to incorporate “at least one” other perspective; other versions of the prep guide may not include the correct prompts for the essay). The table of contents / pagination appears to be identical to the previous book version until the portion of the book including the practice tests. Upon a quick skim it’s mostly identical, likely with some typo corrections.I gave this 5 stars BUT I do have a few minor quibbles about the book.My number one complaint is the fact that the question bank is still online only. Having the ability to PRINT the bonus questions made them much more valuable, and this was possible with some older version of this same guide.Studies have shown that students focus less when reading from screens and performance may be affected. Additionally, it’s best to prep using the same method you would use when actually taking the test. That makes your practice experience closer to your testing experience. Printing to paper gives students that experience. Doing questions in a question bank online doesn’t.Additionally, the OFFICIAL ACT PREP GUIDE (this book) and all versions of it borrows heavily from the previous book of ACT Tests pre 2014 changes called The Real ACT 3rd Edition (Official Act Prep Guide), particularly in the math sections (more on this below) of tests 1-3 in this book only. That's kind of annoying, as it means you can't buy both books and get 10 tests. If you buy both you get more like 8 tests. I know the other one is out of print, but it would still be nice to be able to buy that book used and get even more tests to practice with in complete form. As time goes on, there are more tests in this book, and now 2 free pdfs of post 2014 tests (see below) available, so this is becoming less of an issue, but it’s still something. Finally, there is only one set of example essays for the essay section based on one prompt (not all the prompts that are paired with the tests). Students who really want to learn more about the essay may be left wanting more input. Now let’s first discuss what this includes:1) Five “real” ACT tests. The first four exams appear to be identical to the previous editions of this guide. I’ve noted the form codes these were sourced from below in case you know of these past exams.Test 1 (diagnostic): English, Reading, Science (Jun 2015 73C), Math (73C+10 random questions from The Real ACT Prep Guide exams, mix of exams, and a few originals), (Code 16MC1)Test 2: English, Reading, Science (Apr 2015 73G), Math (random questions from The Real ACT Prep Guide exams, mostly from Exam #2, and a few originals), (Code 16MC2)Test 3 :English (Test 5 from Real ACT Prep Guide), Reading, Science (Test 4 from Real ACT Prep Guide), Math (Many from test 4 from the Real ACT Prep Guide, some random from that Guide, plus a few 73G questions and a few originals.) (Code 16MC3)Test 4: June 2017 Code 74C (Code 18MC4), all sectionsTest 5: Dec 2017 Code A10 (Code 19MC5), all sections2) Essay promptsAll tests include a complete essay prompt; a sixth prompt is in the chapter on the essay, for five total prompts.3) Chapters that review the basic content of each section and have some example questionsThough this might seem to be a great resource, advice from the test makers is rarely as good as advice from private tutors and people who didn’t also create the test itself. I’m probably biased (I’m a private tutor and develop ACT prep curriculum), but even before I wrote materials, I knew the best tips I found for my students weren’t from the test makers. Ideas like “read carefully and thoroughly," are terrible advice for some students who when doing so can’t even finish half of a section. Many students are better off FINISHING than reading everything carefully. True, the book also has pacing strategies, but they aren’t written based on people who are on the ground with students trying to help them exploit test weaknesses or maximize scores. Sure, in an ideal world we we be good little students and do everything the “right” way, but real test prep is about optimization, not being a “good student.” It’s about working within the constraints of the test and maximizing your ability to get questions right. The idea that some students are different and your strategy may be different from someone else’s isn’t really accounted for here in a clear way. The voice of the book feels more objective than insightful in its advice. The biggest value of this book is the real tests, not the section advice. If you want test prep advice, get another book or two from an independent tutor. Still, content tips in the English and Math could be somewhat useful for those with no other resources or limited budgets, and answer explanations may still be enough for those skilled at self assessment to make progress.ALSO: Many of the “real” examples from these topic based chapters are part of fully released exams from prior years, such as 61C (the packet released free of charge in 2008-2009). As a result, the example material is not a huge boon for students, but actual a bit of a "spoiler" for anyone who digs up these old, free, released pdf tests online and wants to use them to practice full exams.4) General information about the test that details registering, planning and packing for test day.Can you get all this for free from the ACT website, probably. But this information is good to have from the source of the test in any case.If you’re looking to maximize your access to REAL materials, here are your other options:1) Upgrade to the The Official ACT Prep Pack with 7 Full Practice Tests (5 in Official ACT Prep Guide + 2 Online) and get access to two online tests in addition to the five tests in the book. Practicing online, though, is not ideal if you’re taking this on paper. (See my note above) (ACT now offers a small percentage of test takers the opportunity to take the test on computers, but I don’t recommend doing so; If you’re located internationally, though, you must take the ACT on a computer and then I definitely suggest this option over the book alone).2) Get a used copy of the The Real ACT (CD) 3rd Edition (Official Act Prep Guide) in addition to this book. You’ll likely want to skip most of the math sections except for anecdotal practice (particularly tests 4 and 2 which show up heavily on the math section of the newer book), but other sections are useful. Know that the reading has no dual passages, and that the science has more passages but the same number of questions. Also, avoid English test #5, and Science and Reading test #4, as these are identical to test #3 in the Official Guide you would get from this page.3) Find the previously released free exams that ACT.org has offered students from prior years (note some may date from before the test tweaks in 2014):There is one free right now at ACT's site (2018-2019 practice test, Code 74F PRE),A second “online” edition free for international students at ACT.orgThe 2017-2018 pdf practice test Code 72C PRE is also floating around on the internet,And many sites have cataloged even older editions (2014-2015, 2011-2012, and 2008-2009) of the Preparing for the ACT packet. A quick online search for Free PDF ACT practice tests or "Preparing for the ACT" pdf should help you find some of these.Overall:Get this for the tests (you can't beat real tests!). Go over your mistakes and learn from them!Skip most of the chapter advice by topic (Math, Science, Reading, etc.) unless you can't afford more books or alternate options.Online materials are ok but not perfect.Note on the KINDLE EDITION: I've also purchased the Kindle version. It is improved from the previous Kindle version (2018-2019) so it is no longer extremely illegible on the portions of the book that are practice tests. Still, you can't zoom in on these pages at all and the quality is not the best, but it is useable now. I do not recommend the Kindle version unless you are taking the exam on a computer. Else a hard copy is just a better bet. See photo for images. The other thing is I can't find the code for the online resources in the Kindle Edition. There is a disclaimer at the beginning that tells you to go to a website if you are missing digital assets that come with the hardcopy but the ISBN for this book doesn't bring anything up on that site as of yet. You could probably email Wiley and get access (I actually have contacted them before for other issues and they're pretty responsive), but still something to note. One extra test, lower price I am a private tutor and author of Ultimate Guide to the Math ACT, Second Edition. I encourage my students to take as many practice tests as possible and these tests are simply the best available. The ACT continues to be a printed only test with a bubble sheet in the vast majority of locations, so I discourage students from taking practice tests online. This new edition of official ACT practice tests contains one more test than the previous edition (the books otherwise have the same content). Its price is $4.04 lower than the previous edition (as of May 7, 2019), so if you want to buy a book of official practice tests this is the edition to buy. This review is four stars because the ACT book of practice tests has fewer tests than the comparable SAT book (5 versus 8) and it is priced $2.96 higher (as of May 7, 2019). Like many tutors, I have been waiting for more tests, better content and a lower price for a long time, and it looks like I have to wait a while longer.
